Donald Trump names two ‘fantastic’ stars as his favorite New York Knicks players

Article excerpt

Donald Trump has identified two New York Knicks players as his favorites as the team makes a Finals run. Rather than centering his support around a single star, Trump distributed his praise across the roster, reflecting a strategic approach to the team's championship hopes. The Knicks' return to the Finals has elevated their biggest names into sharper public view, and Trump's endorsement adds another layer of attention to their playoff push.

Donald Trump is fully invested in the New York Knicks’ NBA Finals run, but he kept his praise focused on the team rather than building everything around one player.

The Knicks’ return to the Finals has pushed their biggest names into a brighter spotlight. With Game 3 set for Madison Square Garden, Trump was asked which players had caught his eye most.

The US President’s answer was brief, but it still pointed to the two stars driving New York’s championship push.

Donald Trump picks Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns as New York Knicks favorites

Legion Hoops on X shared Donald Trump’s answer on his favorite New York Knicks players, with the president singling out Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns before praising the team as a whole.

“Well Brunson’s fantastic. Towns is fantastic, they just have a great team,” Trump said.

The answer made sense because Brunson and Towns have become the clearest faces of this Knicks run. Brunson is the late-game engine, while Towns gives New York scoring, rebounding, and size against elite frontcourts.

Trump did not offer deep basketball analysis, but his choices were not random. Those two have helped turn the Knicks from a strong story into a real title threat.

Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns lead New York Knicks Finals charge

Brunson and Towns backed up that attention in Game 1 against the San Antonio Spurs. Brunson scored 30 points in New York’s 105-95 win, including 13 in the fourth quarter, while Towns added 18 points and 12 rebounds.

That balance is why the Knicks look dangerous. Brunson gives them the calm closer every Finals team needs, and Towns creates matchup problems without forcing New York to rely on one style of offense.

Trump is expected to attend Game 3 at Madison Square Garden after being invited by Knicks owner James Dolan. His visit will add another layer of attention to a night already loaded with emotion.

For the Knicks, the bigger story is still the court. If Brunson and Towns keep producing, Trump will not be the only New Yorker calling them fantastic.
