The Punisher is, without a doubt, one of the most iconic characters in the history of Marvel Comics. Having been a mainstay in the comics source material for decades, the anti-heroic Frank Castle finally made his triumphant first appearance in live-action in 1989's The Punisher.
From that point on, every appearance of the character came in an R-rated project of some kind, whether in his own movie or as a supporting player in another series. Now, however, after 37 years, the Punisher will be making his very first live-action appearance in something not rated R, breaking a major tradition for the character, and pushing him into a bold new era.
