Astros' Yordan Alvarez receives incredible 1,000,000 All-Star fan voting result
Article excerpt
Houston Astros outfielder Yordan Alvarez crossed the million-vote threshold in the first wave of MLB All-Star fan voting, a remarkable achievement that underscores his star power and popularity among baseball fans. The milestone marks one of the fastest accumulations of fan votes in recent All-Star history. Alvarez, a perennial MVP candidate and one of the game's premier hitters, has cemented his status as one of baseball's most beloved players through his consistent excellence at the plate. The voting result reflects both his on-field performance and his standing within the fanbase heading into the season's mid-point showcase.

The Houston Astros have had a rough 2026 season and might even be heading towards the MLB trade deadline as sellers this season.
But, if there were one positive takeaway from this season, it would be that Yordan Alvarez has cemented himself as one of the best hitters in all of Major League Baseball.
As USA Today's Bob Nightengale shared, the first wave of All-Star fan voting backs up such an idea, with Alvarez being just one of two players to receive more than 1,000,000 votes through the first wave of fan voting alongside Shohei Ohtani.
Astros' Yordan Alvarez receives over 1M votes for All-Star Game
Among AL designated hitters, Alvarez lapped the rest of the competition, receiving 1,015,768 votes this season, significantly more than the second-most-voted player in former Astro George Springer of the Toronto Blue Jays, who received 323,112 votes.
This result for Alvarez is very impressive, as this is the most votes received by any player in the American League so far this season.
Alvarez received more votes than Aaron Judge, Bobby Witt Jr., and Mike Trout. Among all players, only Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who received 1,165,133 votes, got more fan votes than Alvarez this season.
It's incredibly deserved for Alvarez, as the Astros slugger has been the best hitter in all of Major League Baseball this season so far.

He has a 1.084 OPS, which is more than second-place in the New York Yankees' Ben Rice's .998 OPS. Alvarez is also hitting .326, third-best in baseball.
Alvarez has 24 homers (tied most in MLB with Kyle Schwarber), 54 RBIs (third in MLB), 85 hits (third), and a .651 slugging percentage (first).
What Alvarez has done this season at the plate has been stunning, and seeing him earn the most All-Star votes of any AL player, and second only to international superstar Shohei Ohtani, proves how good he's been this season.
Even while on a team that's 33-40, Alvarez has received the most votes of any player not named Ohtani so far this season. After a down 2025 season due to injury, this has been an incredible turnaround to witness.
