Here’s how I use a small square to set the height of router bits and table-saw blades quickly and accurately. Start by setting the blade to the dimension. Now adjust the bit or blade to the rough height you need, and lean the square against it as shown. If the blade of the square leans away, adjust the bit or blade downward.
