EASTABOGA, Ala., Legacy Cabinets announced that they have “made the difficult decision to close our doors and cease operations.” Hundreds of employees will reportedly lose their jobs on short notice.

Legacy Cabinet invoked the faltering company exception for why it did not give employees 60 days' notice that a closure was imminent. Employees received a memo obtained June 6 by Clay County News informing workers that Legacy Cabinets, Inc. would permanently cease operations at its facility. According to numerous reports, the closure left "hundreds of employees without a job on short-notice."

"We regret to inform you that due to business circumstances Legacy Cabinets, Inc. has made the difficult decision to permanently close," the email read. "As required by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (“WARN”), this letter serves to give you notice of our closing."

The company said that there will be a "permanent cessation of all operations and termination of all employees’ employment" at Legacy Cabinets’ facility located at 285 Legacy Boulevard, Eastaboga, Alabama 36260 on June 6, 2026. The employee's last day of employment with Legacy Cabinets is the separation date of June 6. There will not be bumping rights for affected employees, and employees will not be able to displace more junior employees out of their job positions as a result of this closure.

The immediate closure occurred approximately one month after the company announced on its website that the company was rebranding. "After months of research and conversations with our customers, dealers, designers, and builders, we're proud to unveil a refreshed brand identity," the company said at the time. "It’s the same commitment to craft and service and a modern new look to match."

Legacy Cabinets said it acknowledges it has provided less than sixty (60) days’ advance written notice of the plant closing as required by the WARN Act in reliance upon the faltering company exception. "At the time sixty-day notices would otherwise have been due, Legacy Cabinets was actively seeking capital through financing, investment, and other means that, if obtained, would have been sufficient to avoid or postpone the plant closing and resulting employment losses," the email said.

"Legacy Cabinets identified realistic opportunities to secure such capital and had a good faith, reasonable belief that those efforts would succeed. Legacy Cabinets further reasonably believed that providing WARN Act notices would have disclosed its financial condition and signaled to potential investors, lenders, and business partners that Legacy Cabinets was likely to cease operations, thereby precluding it from obtaining the capital necessary to continue the business and avoid the plant closing. For these reasons, Legacy Cabinets invokes the faltering company exception and has provided notice as soon as practicable under the circumstances."
