Roma interested in Brahim Diaz, but deal appears difficult

Article excerpt

AS Roma is pursuing Real Madrid winger Brahim Díaz as a transfer target, according to reports, but completing a deal faces significant hurdles. The Italian club views the Champions League, which Roma will compete in next season after a seven-year absence, as leverage to lure talent from Europe's elite. Díaz, a Spanish international currently at Madrid, remains a priority for Roma's recruitment team, yet negotiations appear complicated, suggesting the La Liga champion may resist parting with the 25-year-old. The transfer represents Roma's ambitions under new leadership to strengthen ahead of continental competition.

Roma interested in Brahim Diaz, but deal appears difficult

The Champions League is an important showcase for attracting players from big clubs to join Roma.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s team, which will return to Europe’s top club after seven years, has initiated initial discussions with Real Madrid regarding Brahim Diaz.

The Moroccan player, who previously played in Serie A for AC Milan, may find limited space in José Mourinho’s new Real Madrid, and the Blancos may be open to a transfer.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, however, the attacking midfielder appears strongly inclined to stay in Madrid for next season, effectively closing the door to any offers.

In addition to Roma, other European clubs are also trying to inquire about Brahim, but the 1999-born player has so far rejected everything.

In the recently concluded season, he made 44 appearances across La Liga, Copa del Rey, and the Champions League, scoring two goals and providing seven assists.

The number one target for strengthening the attack at the moment remains Mason Greenwood.

The Giallorossi management has no intention of repeating last summer’s Sancho affair and will not participate in any offers: either Marseille accepts the Roman club’s offer or they will turn to other options.
