Google Chrome is closing the loopholes that let old ad blockers keep working
Article excerpt
Google Chrome is closing the final technical loopholes that have kept older ad blockers running since the company phased out Manifest V2 support last year. Versions 150 and 151, arriving in late June and July, will eliminate the last remaining workarounds for extensions like uBlock Origin, which millions of users relied on to block ads. Most Chrome users have already switched to newer Manifest V3 ad blockers or jumped to competing browsers, but this move will fully cut off the older tools for anyone still using them.
