Why is Bayern Munich so interested in attacking midfielders these days?
Article excerpt
Bayern Munich is pursuing attacking midfielders despite already having quality players in those positions, a puzzling strategy for the German powerhouse. The club's recent transfer activity suggests a shift in how it wants to structure its midfield, though the exact reasoning remains unclear. Bayern's management appears willing to spend significantly to reshape the attacking unit, even as questions linger about whether such moves address the team's actual needs or represent a solution in search of a problem.

Entering the transfer window, it was reported that Bayern Munich had two primary needs for the summer transfer window, a left wing to challenge Luis Díaz and a central midfielder to replace Leon Goretzka.
Somehow, though, Bayern Munich has been linked not to one, but two attacking midfielders, Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and PSV Eindhoven’s Ismael Saibari (two excellent players). But why?
Bayern Munich is well-stocked at the attacking midfield position with three, high quality options in Jamal Musiala, Serge Gnabry, and Lennart Karl. All three players can also play wing, so maybe Bayern Munich is rationalizing it that way, but it seems odd to say the least.
Sure, Karl will most likely slot in behind Michael Olise as a back-up and Gnabry has the versatility to play anywhere across the front line, but why bring in a high-priced player to compete with Jamal Musiala, whom the club just gave a massive contract to?
Yes, Musiala is still battling through the lingering effects of the injury he sustained at the Club World Cup last year, but adding Rogers, or even Saibari, would represent a lot money tied up in that position, where most of the playing time is likely going to go to Musiala.
So, what do you think, why is Bayern Munich being linked to attacking midfielders instead of some other more pertinent needs?
