Integrating genetic origin data with tumor analyses enables better prediction of survival

A major study presented at the European Society of Human Genetics conference finds that a cancer patient's genetic ancestry significantly influences how their disease progresses and survival rates. Researchers analyzed nearly 1,900 genetic mutations across tumors to determine whether certain mutations appear more frequently in patients with different geographic origins. The findings suggest integrating ancestry data into tumor analysis could improve survival predictions. This represents the largest study of its kind examining the relationship between genetic heritage and cancer progression.
