Tara Davis-Woodhall thought she had won her fourth national title in the women’s long jump on her final attempt, but things changed dramatically upon review.
Davis-Woodhall leaped 23 feet, 6 inches on her last jump to claim the gold medal over Alyssa Jones, who had jumped 22 feet, 10 inches. But upon review, it was determined that Davis-Woodhall had fouled on her final jump and the gold medal was awarded to Jones.
Davis-Woodhall’s second-best jump of 22 feet, 7 ¾ inches was good enough for the bronze medal. Monae' Nichols took home the silver with a leap of 22 feet, 8 ½ inches.
It was a tough result for Davis-Woodhall, who hadn’t lost in the long jump in nearly three years.

The long jump competition capped off a busy U.S. championship for Davis-Woodhall. On Saturday, she placed third in the women’s 100-meter hurdles.
The 27-year-old is the reigning Olympic and world champion in the long jump. Davis-Woodhall’s season-best jump of 23 feet, 7½ inches is the No. 1 mark in the world this year.
