Arsenal face PSG battle over signing of Bournemouth teenager Eli Junior Kroupi

Article excerpt

Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are competing to sign Bournemouth teenager Eli Junior Kroupi this summer, according to Yahoo Sports. The 18-year-old prospect has attracted interest from both the English Premier League club and the French Champions League winners. Bournemouth will likely command a significant fee for the talented youngster, who has emerged as one of several targets both clubs are pursuing during the transfer window. The rivalry between the two clubs adds another layer to what's shaping up to be an active summer in the transfer market for both organizations.

Arsenal are facing a challenge from Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Bournemouth's Eli Junior Kroupi.

The 19-year-old French forward scored 13 goals in his debut Premier League campaign last season.

The Independent understands Arsenal want to bring three or four players in this summer, with the same number expected to leave.

But the Premier League champions face competition from Champions League winners PSG, who defeated the Gunners on penalties in the Budapest final, on a number of targets.

Both clubs are also interested in Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez. His first preference is Barcelona, but the Spanish champions can't currently meet the financial requirements.

PSG have signalled that they are willing to pay Atletico’s asking price of €125m (£108m) for Alvarez, while also now firmly entering the race for Kroupi.

Kroupi began his career in France with Lorient, before joining Bournemouth and setting the record for most goals scored by a teenager in a debut Premier League season.

Arsenal are also targeting Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers as Mikel Arteta looks to build on the club’s first Premier League title in 22 years.

The Independent understands PSG are also one of Rogers’ many suitors, as well as Manchester United and Chelsea. Villa’s preference is to keep their star.
