Kentucky Wildcats News: Nikola Kusturica Watch
Article excerpt
Kentucky basketball is pursuing Nikola Kusturica, an international prospect, to fill a final roster spot for next season. The Wildcats are reportedly in the mix for the player, competing against other programs for his commitment. Kusturica represents a significant opportunity for head coach Mark Pope to add international talent to his lineup. The recruitment effort comes as Kentucky continues building out its roster through the transfer portal and high school recruiting. Landing Kusturica would give the Wildcats another piece heading into the offseason.

Good morning, BBN!
Most fans thought that after getting Milan Momcilovic, the blockbuster moves were over. With one roster spot left, surely, they were looking for a reserve, right?
Well, Mark Pope said, ” Hold my beer.”
On Friday, KSR reported that Kentucky is showing interest in 17-year-old Serbian star Nikola Kusturica.
The 6-foot-9 wing on Barcelona’s U16 team averaged 20.0 PPG and 7.7 RPG this year.
Those are some elite numbers, and a lot of what he’s put on tape is impressive. Other big names like Louisville, Arizona, and Duke are also interested, though Gonzaga and UCLA are currently viewed as the top competitors.
This would jolt another lightning bolt into this fanbase. If Pope and company get this done, the narrative turns from a disaster offseason to arguably his best at Kentucky.
Of course, if they miss, it’s not nearly as big of a deal as it would have been had Kentucky gotten Momcilovic. That was the guy Pope had to get for this team.
What do you think? Will the Cats land the European star?
