National writer predicts brutal season for MSU football in 2026
Article excerpt
Michigan State football will win at least one conference game this year, right? One national writer doesn't think so...
One national writer doesn't believe Michigan State football will win a single game in Big Ten play this year.
There's being pessimistic about Michigan State football and then there's what William Cockerill of Walk-On Redshirts is predicting for the upcoming season. Cockerill recently posted his wins-losses record predictions for every Big Ten team and let's just say he doesn't expect much from the Spartans this year.
Cockerill has Michigan State going 2-10 overall this season, with an 0-9 mark in Big Ten play. The exact game-by-game predictions aren't included in the post, but the assumption here is that Michigan State would win its first two games against Toledo and Eastern Michigan to only then lose the remaining 10 games from that point.
Michigan State and Purdue are the lone teams from the Big Ten that Cockerill has losing every conference game this year. The lone win he predicted in Big Ten play for Northwestern would come at the Spartans' expense as well.
I wish I could say this is a wild prediction but with how things have gone in recent years, anything is really possible for the Spartans. I personally expect much more from the Spartans this upcoming season but I unfortunately can't call this a hot take by Cockerill to have Michigan State go winless in Big Ten play. Hopefully, the Spartans will prove him wrong this fall...
