Just as DC Comics launched its Elseworlds revival, it achieved blockbuster success with the superstar-led Absolute universe, headlined by Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta's Batman. A testament to the power and potential of exploring key superheroes like Batman and Superman beyond the limitations of canon, it's defeated Marvel in sales. As great as it is, it isn't the only way forward for the publisher.
