FLOYDS KNOBS, Ind., Floyds Knobs Professional Firefighters battled a fire at Smith Creek Wood Products late Tuesday evening in southern Indiana.

Smith Creek Wood Products manufactures sustainable, wood-based items. Their primary product lines include a variety of animal bedding (shavings and pellets), high-quality landscaping mulch, and bagged wood fuel pellets for stoves and heating

Due to the building being filled with sawdust, the fire spread rapidly and created challenging conditions for crews operating on scene. The majority of the unburned sawdust was removed from the building to help prevent further fire damage. After six hours, the fire was brought under control. 

Floyds Knobs Professional Firefighters 5426 officials said The Salvation Army’s mobile canteen provided rehabilitation support for firefighters on scene. Clark County Emergency Management Agency also deployed their drone resources, assisting crews in locating hidden hot spots and ensuring complete extinguishment of the fire.

The fire was brought under control and the scene cleared around 6:15 a.m Wednesday morning. No injuries or cause of the fire has been reported.
