Stories about the X-Men tend to include at least one young mutant who begins as an outsider to the superhero world and can thus serve as an audience surrogate. In 1992's X-Men: The Animated Series, this role was filled by Jubilation "Jubilee" Lee, a teenage girl with the ability to produce explosive blasts reminiscent of fireworks. The cartoon turned Jubilee into a fan-favorite member of the X-Men, and she returned in Disney+'s continuation of the series, X-Men '97.
