Golfweek lists 5 Iowa public golf courses among the best in America

Recently, Golfweek released its rankings of the best public-access golf courses in the country. These five in Iowa made the list.
Just days after the Principal Charity Classic made its way to the Hawkeye State, a few of Iowa’s public golf courses have been listed among America’s best.
Golfweek recently released its rankings of the best public-access golf courses in the country. The popular golf publication receives input from more than 800 raters globally to put this list together. It bases the ranking on 10 specific factors from the integrity of design to conditioning and ecology.
Which Iowa golf courses ranked among the best?
Golfweek lists 750 courses on its rankings, including five from Iowa.
Here’s a look at Iowa’s courses recognized by Golfweek:
Spirit Hollow: Burlington
Blue Top Ridge: Riverside
Bent Tree: Council Bluffs
Tournament Club of Iowa: Polk City
Finkbine: Iowa City

Each course has been on Golfweek's list since 2023.
Tournament Club of Iowa, the only central Iowa course on the list, has completed several major renovations in the last few years.
The University of Iowa is also working on major renovations to Finkbine Golf Course. The project will include longer fairways, a native prairie and the removal of a big hill between hole 13 and hole 14.
