Scotland goalkeeper Craig Gordon has announced his retirement from football after a playing career spanning a quarter century.
The shot-stopper made his debut while on loan from Hearts at Cowdenbeath before going to become a regular with the Jambos.
Gordon then went on to feature for Sunderland but was eventually released by the club due to injury issues. After a time out from the game, Gordon returned to football by joining Celtic before eventually returning to his first team, Hearts.
It was during his first stint Hearts where Gordon earned his first of 84 Scotland senior caps, ranking him fifth in the all-time lists of appearance makers for his country with his last appearance coming as recently as May against Curaçao in a pre-tournament friendly ahead of the 2026 World Cup, in which Gordon was a part of Steve Clarke's squad.
In total, Gordon made 766 career appearances for club and country with 332 of his 680 club appearances coming as a Hearts player.
