The Most Read Books on Goodreads This Week

Article excerpt

The most read books on Goodreads this week include hockey romances, a marriage thriller, a summer romance, and more

The Off-Campus adaptation continues to boost readership of the series, but this week, there’s only one Elle Kennedy title in the top five. Meanwhile, the buzz around Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke does not seem to be slowing down: it’s holding onto the top spot, and somehow, it found another 43,000 new readers this week.

If you’re looking for an excuse to buy books, this is the last day to snag Prime Day deals. Here’s our roundup of some of the best Prime Day deals on paperbacks, including Just for the Summer by Abby Jimenez, Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, and All the Sinners Bleed by S. A. Cosby.

Two New Books Out This Week You Should Know About

Unfortunately, the most read books on Goodreads tend not to be diverse by any definition of the word. So, here are a couple of new books out this week that deserve wider readership.

Slasher Summer by E.L. Chen

For the 1980s slasher horror fans, there’s Slasher Summer, a story about seven former high school friends who reunite in their hometown of Cedar Lake Falls. This sleepy town was the shooting location of the cult horror classic Slasher. Now, the friends are staying in the cabin where the film was shot. It’s all fun and games until a real slasher shows up, wearing a mask and hungry for murder. Will the friends’ knowledge of slasher horror movie tropes be enough to save them from a real-life masked killer?, Emily Martin

Doe by Rebecca Barrow

This sapphic YA horror novel stars high school cheerleading captain Maris Larsen. Maris has a tumultuous home life and a girlfriend who doesn’t appreciate her, but when she’s cheering, she feels on top of the world. Then, the new girl Genevieve Ray joins the squad, and everything changes. Suddenly, Genevieve is the new favorite, and what makes matters even worse for Maris are her strange dreams and sleepwalking. At night, Maris meets a monstrous beast in the shape of a decaying doe who has wandered the Earth for decades, trapped in this form until she can be freed by a blood relative of one of the girls who originally bound her., Emily Martin

The Most Read Books on Goodreads This Week

#5:

The Correspondent by Virginia Evans

This turned out to be the sleeper hit of 2025: it has kept growing in popularity, seemingly just from word-of-mouth recommendations. Recently, Katie Couric named it the first pick for her new book club. It’s about a woman who has written letters daily her whole life. When someone from her past writes back, she has to reevaluate a painful period in her life and find a way to forgive. This was read by almost 16,000 users this week and has a 4.5 average rating.

#4:

Our Perfect Storm by Carley Fortune

One Golden Summer was one of the biggest romances of the summer last year, and now Carley Fortune is back just in time for 2026 beach reading season. Frankie’s life was perfect for one night, when she was celebrating her upcoming wedding with family and her lifelong best friend, George. Then, her fiancé dumped her the next day… by note. George convinces her to go with him on their honeymoon on the beaches of Tofino, where they start to faces the secrets and emotions they’ve been burying. It was read by 16,000 Goodreads readers this week and has a 4.1 average rating.

#3:

The Deal by Elle Kennedy

In the first book in the Off-Campus series, Hannah makes a deal with hockey captain Garrett: she’ll tutor him if he fake dates her to make her crush jealous. Hannah and Garrett’s chemistry is undeniable, though, which has them both rethinking their arrangement. It was read by 19,000 Goodreads users this week and has a 4.2 average rating.

#2:

The Divorce by Freida McFadden

In Freida McFadden’s newest thriller, Naomi is shocked when her perfect marriage abruptly ends and her husband moves in with a younger woman. She refuses to let it go, and she becomes obsessed with his new girlfriend. Along the way, she unearths secrets that put her life in danger. This was read by 29,000 Goodreads users this week and has a 3.9 average rating.

#1:

Yesteryear by Caro Claire Burke

At the top of the list this week is Yesteryear, which came out in April. It’s one of several buzzy tradwife novels out this year. In this one, a tradwife influencer wakes up one day in the time period she’s been romanticizing, and real-life homesteading turns out to be much more difficult, and dangerous, than it looks on Instagram. Yesteryear was read by 43,000 users this week and has a 4.0 average rating.
