Marjane Satrapi Dies: Iranian-French ‘Persepolis’ & ‘Radioactive’ Director Was 56

Marjane Satrapi, the Iranian-French animator and director behind the Oscar-nominated animated film Persepolis and the Rosamund Pike drama Radioactive, has died at 56. According to a statement, Satrapi died of sadness roughly a year after the death of her husband, Mattias Ripa. The acclaimed artist, whose semi-autobiographical graphic novel Persepolis depicted her childhood during the Iranian Revolution, became an international figure in cinema and animation.
