While the Commanders don't have one of the NFL's top 10 cornerbacks, they'll face several of them.
Washington Commanders fans, who are the best cornerbacks in the NFL right now?
Well, ESPN surveyed NFL executives, scouts and coaches to help them rank the top 10 players at 11 different positions. This annual rankings survey is now in its seventh edition.
What does this have to do with the Commanders? Well, actually more than you might originally think, much more. What? Surely none of the Commanders corners made the top 10, so what does this have to do with the Commanders? Well, the Commanders will face these very corners in several games this season.
Here is ESPN's top 10 cornerbacks.
1- Pat Surtain II, Denver Broncos: Has certainly lived up to being the No. 9 overall 2021 draft pick.
2- Derek Stingley Jr., Houston Texans: The Commanders host the Texans this season on December 13.
3- Christian Gonzalez, New England Patriots: Ron Rivera chose to draft Emmanuel Forbes instead of Gonzalez in 2023.
4- Devon Witherspoon, Seattle Seahawks: The Commanders host the Seahawks September 27.
5- Trent McDuffie, Los Angeles Rams: The Commanders host the Rams November 8.
6- Quinyon Mitchell, Philadelphia Eagles: The Commanders open this season in Philly against the rival Eagles.
7- Denzel Ward, Cleveland Browns: No. 4 overall pick in 2018 continues to produce for the Browns
8- Jaycee Horn, Carolina Panthers: No. 8 overall pick in 2021, between Penei Sewell and Patrick Surtain II.
9- Sauce Gardner, Indianapolis Colts: On October 4, the Commanders and Colts face off in London.
10- Cooper DeJean, Philadelphia Eagles: The Commanders take on the rival Eagles twice each NFL season.
The Commanders face six of these 10 players this season, including Mitchell and DeJean twice.
