Recapping Wednesday's Cape Cod Baseball League action.
The Brewster Whitecaps are on a roll.
The Whitecaps (10-5-1) have now won four straight games with Wednesday night's 5-3 win over the Wareham Gatemen.
Wareham falls to 3-13 with the setback.
Charlie Willcox (Georgia Tech) started for the Whitecaps and allowed just three hits and two walks in five innings. Brewster reliever Tate DeRias (Miami) went 2 2/3 innings and struck out six batters.
Cash Strayer (Florida) went 2-for-2 with one run scored and two RBIs.
Strayer singled to right field to bring home a run in the top of the first inning.
Brewster's Pete Daniel (Virginia Tech) scored on a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth inning.
Edward Yamin IV (Louisiana State) hit a solo home run to left center in the top of the sixth inning, his first of the season.
The Whitecaps added another in the eighth inning as Brody DeLamielleure (Florida State) homered to left field, his first big fly of the season. Strayer then homered to right field for his second long ball of the season as the Whitecaps grabbed a 5-0 lead.
Wareham scored for the first time in the bottom of the eighth inning as Caleb Barnett (Alabama) hit an RBI single.
Wareham scored on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning. Nate Novitske (Arizona) singled home another run to cut the deficit to 5-3.
In other Cape Cod Baseball League action:
Hyannis Harbor Hawks 8, Bourne Braves 7
The Harbor Hawks (7-9) nearly gave up an eight-run lead, but were able to hold off the Braves (6-7-3).
Hyannis scored all of its eight runs in the first three innings, including a four-run first inning. Liam Barrett (California-Santa Barbara), Matt Ineich (West Virginia) and Henry Zenor (South Carolina-Upstate) all had two hits apiece for the Harbor Hawks.
Hyannis scored in the top of the first inning as Ineich had an infield RBI single. Jax Gimenez (Oregon) then scored on a fielder's choice. Zenor followed with a two-run single to left field to make it 4-0.
Barrett scored on a fielder's choice in the top of the second inning. Caden Miller (Texas-San Antonio) then drove in another run with a single to make it 6-0.
Hyannis kept it going in the top of the third inning. Zenor homered to right field for his second round-tripper of the summer. Ineich added an RBI single to increase the lead to 8-0.
Bourne's John Stuetzer (Florida State) scored on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning. Brice Estep (Coastal Carolina) scored on a sacrifice fly. Lee Ellis (Ohio State) scored on a bases-loaded walk. Blake Schaaf (Wake Forest) scored on another bases-loaded walk, then Matt Bolton (SUNY Binghamton) did the same.
Schaaf scored on a wild pitch after reaching on a triple in the bottom of the eighth inning. Rustan Rigdon scored on a balk to cut the deficit to 8-7.
Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox 8, Falmouth Commodores 1
The Red Sox (14-1-1) broke through with a seven-run fifth inning to run away from the Commodores (6-9-1).
Kevin Takeuchi (Southern California) blasted a three-run homer to left field in that fifth inning. It was his first of the summer. Two bases-loaded walks brought in two more runs. John Beverley (Georgia State) then singled in two more runs with the bases loaded.
Lucas Franco (Texas Christian) hit an RBI double in the top of the ninth inning for Yarmouth-Dennis.
Falmouth scored in the bottom half of the fifth inning with a Brayden Jefferis (Michigan) RBI base hit to right field.
Y-D pitchers Blake Nelson (Clemson), Zach Russell (South Carolina), Brock Ketelsen (Stanford) and Andrew Wright (Cal State Fullerton) combined for 14 strikeouts, with five each from Nelson and Ketelsen.
