North Carolina vs. USC baseball box score: Live stats from NCAA Baseball Championship Game

Article excerpt

North Carolina faced USC in the NCAA Baseball Championship Game with the Tar Heels needing a win at home to stay alive in the series. The matchup pitted two powerhouse programs against each other in a high-stakes contest where every at-bat mattered. Yahoo Sports provided live box score updates and statistics tracking the game's progression in real time. The championship series format meant one team would clinch college baseball's national title with a victory, while the losing team would face elimination or continuation depending on the series structure.

Friday's Game 1 between the Trojans and Tar Heels was ironically a tale of two halves. Innings 1-4, then innings 5-9. North Carolina jumped out to a 5-1 lead through four innings, only for USC to rack up eight unanswered runs in the latter five innings.

An area to keep your eyes on are the 7-8-9 hitters who Coach Travis refers to as the "Snipers". Expected to generate runs from the back end of the order. On Friday Carpentier batting in the bottom of the order hit a grand slam that was the difference in the game.

USC is one win away from the 2026 College World Series. First pitch in Chapel Hill will be at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN.
