Cozy fantasy Agnes Aubert’s Mystical Cat Shelter by Heather Fawcett moved up to the top of our hardcover list with a decisive lead over our second-place finisher, Matt Dinniman’s The Butcher’s Masquerade, the fifth book in his Dungeon Crawler Carl series. Our runner-up was The First Step by Tao Wong (Ace), the first book of twelve in the A Thousand Li series. There were 55 nominated titles, the same number as last month.

Andy Weir’s Project Hail Mary reclaimed the top spot on our trade paperback list, followed closely by last month’s winner Dungeon Crawler Carl by Matt Dinniman. There were no new runners-up. Fifty-five titles were nominated, down from last month’s 74.

On our media and gaming-related book list, only two books made our list. Both titles were by Dan Abnett, Warhammer 40,000: The Horus Heresy: Horus Rising came in first, followed by Warhammer 40,000: Eisenhorn: The Omnibus. There were no new runners-up. For the third month in a row, we had 22 nominated titles.
