Originally from Sweden, Oscar Webersink is making the move to American football and enrolled at St. Thomas More in Connecticut for the upcoming season. He went on the camp scene this previous spring and summer and picked up a bunch of solid offers, Florida State, Maryland, West Virginia, etc. Penn State was one of those camps and one of those offers, and a few weeks after being in Happy Valley for an official visit, Webersink made the call for the Nittany Lions.

Think of Webersink as a lottery ticket. Obviously, it’s a big jump as a European prospect to the American game, but Webersink has some qualities that aren’t teachable. He’s already a massive kid at 6-foot-8, 290 pounds and has the frame to hold even more weight. He’s a very good athlete for his size, displaying light feet and good overall coordination. Of course, that doesn’t meant it’ll all translate to be a Big Ten offensive tackle. For every Jordan Mailata convert, there’s someone like Olaus Alinen who didn’t quite work out. But, clearly, offensive line coach Ryan Clanton sees something he likes in Webersink.
