Dodgers Celebrating Pride Night With Special Jersey Giveaway

Article excerpt

The Los Angeles Dodgers will celebrate Pride Night during their Freeway Series matchup against the Angels from June 5, 7, featuring a special jersey giveaway for fans. The event marks the team's continued recognition of LGBTQ+ pride throughout the baseball season. Specifics about the jersey design and distribution details were not provided in the announcement.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are hosting the Los Angeles Angels for the home leg of the Freeway Series on Friday, June 5, to Sunday, June 7.

With June being Pride Month, a celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, the Dodgers have designated Friday’s game as Pride Night.

On Friday, there will be special pregame programming and a gift included with the ticket package as well. The Dodgers will be handing out special pride jerseys with rainbow designs on the letters and numbers.

The jersey will not be available stadium-wide, as with other promotions; instead, it will be handed out with the purchase of a select ticket package that includes the jersey and a ticket to the game.

Special performers on Pride Night

There will be a list of performers who will be performing in Centerfield Plaza, according to a flier provided by the Dodgers:

“DJ Brizzle is an LA based queer DJ who is all about bringing the party to life, playing a mix of beats and genres that keep the dance floor moving,” the Dodgers state.

“Mariachi Arco-Iris de Los Angeles, the world’s first LGBTQ+ mariachi, is a haven for mariachi musicians who identify as LGBTQ+ and come together to perform traditional Mexican regional music and introduce Mexican folk music to new audiences.

“Queerchata is an inclusive queer dance community founded locally in LA. Their classes are built around respect, consent, and inclusivity, welcoming all experience levels. Queerchata is a place where anyone can express their true selves and find belonging.

“Senses is an LA-based emo-friendly, punk curious band known for their explosive energy and soul-baring truth. Through their music they have built a close-knit inclusive space where everyone can connect and find solace in their songs.”

Throwing out the first pitch will be Maybelle Blair, a former All-American Girls Professional Baseball Player who came out as a lesbian back in 2022, well into her 90s.

“I thought I was the only one in the world… I hid for 75, 85 years and this is actually, basically, the first time I’ve ever come out,” Blair, an Inglewood native, said publicly.
