Four-star Woodruff running back Aiden Gibson announced July 7 he is flipping his commitment from Penn State to Rutgers, and he is reclassifying to the Class of 2026, according to 247Sports.
"Thank you for all the support and support behind my decisions. Penn State was one of the best opportunities for me! But after a long time thinking, I have decided to part ways with Penn State and have decided to flip my commitment to Rutgers and enroll early. Thank you to my community," Gibson wrote on social media.

Gibson committed to Penn State on May 12.
In 2025, Gibson rushed for 1,611 yards (7.9 yards per carry) and 21 touchdowns. He also caught 24 passes for 387 yards (16.1 yards per catch) and four touchdowns. Gibson was ranked as the No. 2 running back in the Upstate heading into the 2026 season.
Gibson is not the only running back in the Upstate to commit to Rutgers. In May, senior tailback Trenton Lynch announced his commitment to the Scarlet Knights over UNC Charlotte, Maryland, ECU, Appalachian State, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Liberty and Wake Forest.

"Thank you to Penn State for the amazing opportunity ya'll have given me," Gibson said on social media. "Thank you to my community for understanding me and listening to me. Thank you for everything and all the support down the road and in the past."
Rutgers will kick off its season on Sept. 3 in a home game against UMass.
