‘I would eat you alive’ - Evra makes huge Lamine Yamal claim

Article excerpt

Patrice Evra, the former Manchester United defender, declared he would "eat you alive" in a direct comparison with Barcelona's teenage sensation Lamine Yamal, making a sweeping claim about their relative abilities. The comment reflects ongoing debate about generational talent in football, with Evra seemingly asserting that despite Yamal's impressive early career trajectory, experience and physical dominance would prevail in a hypothetical matchup. Evra's provocative statement, characteristic of his outspoken personality, has likely generated discussion among fans and analysts about how modern young stars compare to their predecessors.

Former Manchester United and France star Patrice Evra is known for speaking his mind and for having some controversial opinions and has come up with another interesting claim.

The ex-full-back believes he would have had no problem taking on Lamine Yamal when he was at his very prime.

“I’m sorry Lamine, I love you very much, but in my prime I would eat you alive. Ask Cristiano Ronaldo, ask Messi, ask other players when they faced me. I’m not a good friend,” he said, per Mundo Deportivo.

Evra won plenty of titles during his career, including the Champions League, enjoying spells at Monaco, Manchester United and Juventus.

However, he didn’t tend to fare well when he came up against Barcelona. He was on the losing side in Champions League finals in 2009 and 2011 with United and again in 2015 with Juve.

As for Yamal, he is currently going for glory at World Cup 2026 with Spain and heads into the tournament after being named La Liga’s Player of the Season for 2025-26.
