St. Joseph Academy softball wins seventh straight South Jersey title

St. Joseph Academy's softball team captured its seventh consecutive South Jersey sectional title, dominating Holy Spirit 18, 0 in the championship game. The dominant performance underscores the program's sustained excellence in regional competition. The lopsided victory adds another crown to what has become a dynasty for the academy's program in recent years.

The Wildcats extended their streak of South Jersey Non-Public B banners with an 18-0 rout of visiting Holy Spirit in the championship game on Friday.
St. Joseph improved to 25-3, including a 3-0 stretch in the postseason where it has outscored opponents 47-0 this spring. The Wildcats will try to win their first state title since 2023 when they play North Jersey champion DePaul (19-8) in a rematch of last year's state final. The game will be played on Wednesday at Ivy Hill Park on the campus of Seton Hall University.
Senior Alaina Dorsey, a Seton Hall commit, played a major role in the Wildcats' return trip to Ivy Hill Park. The leadoff hitter went 3-for-3 with three runs scored, three RBIs and two stolen bases to pace the offense. Dorsey set a single-season, career-high with 45 hits and raised her career total to 155.
Kaylin Marshall had a two hits, including a homer and six RBIs for St. Joseph, which had 14 knocks in the game and scored eight runs in the first and 10 more runs in the third.
Lanie Giovinazzi, Kensie Giovanazzi, Madisyn Powell and Giselle Pescatore each had two knocks. Powell scored three times.
