Fault Whisper in San Diego, California
Article excerpt
In East Village's Fault Line Park, two metal spheres face each other across the San Andreas Fault, connected by an accelerometer buried beneath the ground. The device eavesdrops on the fault's subtle tremors, converting seismic vibrations into musical notes that broadcast from the western sphere, a 2015 public art installation by Living Lenses that transforms geological movement into sound, making invisible tectonics audible to passersby.
