Only 3 Anime Series Are Darker Than Berserk

Berserk is one of the most gruesome anime stories ever told. It is set in a dark world, where violence is the order of the day, and the horrors continue even after all the monsters have gone away. Berserk transforms ambition, loyalty and survival into tools of agony. That is what makes comparing other series to it difficult. A darker anime cannot simply be bloodier. It has to feel more hopeless or more committed to stripping comfort away from the viewer.
