The Ant and the Grasshopper

The Ant and the Grasshopper

All summer the Grasshopper sang while the Ants worked, hauling grain to their store. The Grasshopper laughed at them for toiling on such fine days. When winter came, the Grasshopper had nothing and was starving. He begged the Ants for food. They asked what he had done all summer. "I sang," he said. "Then," they replied, "you may dance the winter away."
