UCLA commit Jerry Outhouse tries to lure other recruits to Westwood
Article excerpt
UCLA football commit Jerry Outhouse Jr. is actively recruiting other top prospects to join him at Westwood, amplifying the Bruins' efforts to build on an already strong 2027 recruiting class. The defensive lineman from Texas has become an unofficial ambassador for the program, using his platform and connections to pitch UCLA to fellow recruits still evaluating their college options. His involvement highlights how top commits increasingly shape recruiting momentum by vouching for coaching staff, facilities, and campus culture to their peers. UCLA's 2027 class has already gained significant traction, and Outhouse's grassroots recruitment could prove decisive in landing additional talent before the signing period closes.
The UCLA Bruins are expecting to bring in an exciting crop of talent with their 2027 recruiting class but they’re not finished yet either. UCLA’s recruiting efforts have expanded greatly this offseason under Bob Chesney, with the program getting help from unexpected areas.
Currently safety Jerry Outhouse Jr. is ranked as the third-highest recruit for the UCLA 2027 class but he’s comfortable sliding down to No. 5 if that means there will be more talent around him on the Bruins roster. Outhouse posted on Twitter on Sunday to offer encouragement to a pair of recruits UCLA has been targeting.
“@bradyedmunds9 @XavierSabb Make that move to WestWood! Let’s build something special and make History.” Outhouse said on Twitter.

Brady Edmunds wrapped up his visit to UCLA this past weekend, receiving a video from Hall of Famer Troy Aikman trying to attract the Ohio State commit to flip to the Bruins. Xavier Sabb is an even higher ranked recruit, with the five-star wideout also set to take an official visit with UCLA.
In his first offseason with UCLA, Chesney has focused on the Bruins’ defense. Of the 10 four-star recruits that UCLA has gotten commitments from, six play on the defensive side of the ball. That’s not to say UCLA has ignored the offense, with offensive lineman Jackson Roper, tight end Zac Fares, running back Jayshon Gibson and wide receiver Kingston Celifie all committing to the Bruins as four-star recruits.
If UCLA can land Edmunds and Sabb then the Bruins will have a plan for the future at quarterback while giving that quarterback a dynamic weapon. This is unfamiliar territory for the Bruins, who have spent the past few recruiting cycles in relative hibernation but it’s an exciting change for the program.
