Ben Shelton bests fellow American Taylor Fritz in Stuttgart for first title on grass

Ben Shelton defeated fellow American Taylor Fritz 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 in the Stuttgart Open final, claiming his first grass-court title and third of the season. Fritz, the defending champion and a grass specialist who had never lost a final on the surface, was broken twice, once in the opening set and once in the third. Shelton's victory ended Fritz's grass-court dominance in just under two hours.
