Highlights of NBA debut of former Ohio State star Bruce Thornton

Article excerpt

Former Ohio State basketball star Bruce Thornton had himself one whale of a NBA Summer League debut with the Rockets. Here are highlights to view.

Former Ohio State basketball guard Bruce Thornton is officially off and running with the next phase in his basketball career. Having been drafted by the Houston Rockets with the first pick in the second round of the NBA draft. Thornton got his first taste of action on Friday night in the NBA Summer League. To say that his debut was a success would be an understatement. He dropped 27 points and filled up the stat sheet on both sides of the court.

If you didn't get to catch what Thornton was able to do on the basketball court, we've got some highlights for you, thanks to the NBA's social media account on X. In it, you'll see the OSU all-time leading scorer employ some of the same nuanced moves to shake free and get his shot off, just like we saw in the Schottenstein Center for four years.

Many NBA teams shied away from drafting the 6-foot, 23-pounder because of a perceived lack of size and explosiveness, but that wasn't a problem in college, and judging from what we saw on Friday night, wasn't a problem with a higher level of competition either.

Thronton is in action again on Saturday night, and if there's a tale to tell again, we'll have it for you, so check back and follow what the Georgia native is doing.
