Sequoyah football’s gauntlet has been laid in front of them for 2026.
Tuesday, July 15, the Indians officially released their football schedule. As with most years, the Indians have three non-district games on the schefdule, seven district games, and the football preview. Most notably missing from the schedule is the Cherokee County showdown with the Keys Cougars, with a bye week scheduled for week three instead.
This season also marks a change in districts for the Indians, from 2A-1 Distrct 4 to District 3.
SHS hits the field for the first time Friday, Aug. 21, for a football preview at home.
Once the regular season starts, the Indians hit the road for back-to-back games, starting with a week zero showdown, Friday, Aug. 28 at Pawnee. In week one, the Indians face off with Prairie Grove on the road, Friday, Sept. 4.
SHS heads to friendly grounds for the first time Friday, Sept. 11, vs. Eufaula, to end non-district play at home. Week three, Friday, Sept. 18, the Indians will be off, with their first bye week in several seasons.
The Indians open play in their new district, hitting the road to face off with Lincoln Christian, Friday, Sept. 25. SHS goes back home, Friday, Oct. 2 vs. Roland.
The Indians hit the road again vs. Checotah, Friday, Oct. 9. Hugo heads to Sequoyah, Friday, Oct. 16. SHS is on the road again Friday, Oct. 23 at Heavener. SHS welcomes Spiro for the final home game of 2026, Friday, Oct. 30. The season closes on the road at Victory Christian, Friday, Nov. 6.
This year, the Indians only have four home games and six away games.
After winning the first round of the playoffs at home last season and a chance down the wire in the quarterfinals, the Indians are looking to return this season.
