Bitter sweet news, I’m sure many are glad they no longer need to rely on RPiLocator to snag a Pi. In its current iteration, the site (https://rpilocator.com) tracks stock and prices for the various Raspberry Pi boards. But when the it was first created by André (makerbymistake), at the height of the chip shortage, it was something of a lifeline to makers. If you’ve blocked the time from your memory, things were hairy and Pis were hard to come by. Scalpers were ravaging supplies, trying to 3x the price on Ebay and Amazon. RPiLocator helped real people keep up and gave them a chance at securing a Pi for retail prices.

André shared the news on BlueSky, picked up by Hackaday

I’ll decommission rpilocator.com in July.

Most of the sites I track have blocked my bot (knowingly or not) and I don’t have the time to get in touch with all of the sellers to get it addressed.

I have looked at workarounds but the workarounds stop working after a few days/weeks
