A.4 Rapid Response and Novel Research in Earth Science (RRNES) solicits proposals that advance the goals and objectives of NASA’s Earth Science Division by conducting unique research to investigate 1) unforeseen or unpredictable Earth system events and opportunities that require a rapid response, and 2) novel ideas of potential high merit and relevance for ESD science to advance Earth remote sensing that have not otherwise been solicited by NASA in the past three years.

Proposals to A.4 RRNES may be submitted at any time. ROSES-25 Amendment 61 defers the close date for A.4 RRNES to the end of the calendar year by which time the next ROSES with the next RRNES will have been released.

Those planning to submit in the fall should be aware of two upcoming changes:

For any proposal for federal assistance submitted > August 5, 2026, PIs and any Co-Is that would spend > 10% time on a proposed grants or cooperative agreements must certify they have taken research security training. NASA will be satisfied with the four online research security training modules on the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Research Security Training website at https://www.nsf.gov/research-security/training or the SECURE Center condensed version of the four modules at https://www.secure-center.org/ctm

The Summary of Requirements for Expertise and Resources Not Anonymized Document in Section 3.5 was updated to indicate that biographical sketches and current and pending support documents submitted after September 1, 2026 must use the NASA-specific Science Experts Network Curriculum Vitae (SciENcv) format found at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sciencv/, per Grant Notice 26-01.

On or about July2, 2026, this Amendment to the NASA Research Announcement “Research Opportunities in Space and Earth Sciences (ROSES) 2025” (NNH25ZDA001N) will be posted on the NASA research opportunity homepage at https://solicitation.nasaprs.com/ROSES2025 and will appear on SARA’s ROSES blog at: https://science.nasa.gov/researchers/solicitations/roses-2025/

Questions concerning A.4 RRNES may be directed to Krishna Vadrevu at krishna.p.vadrevu@nasa.gov.
