Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Cucurella from Chelsea for an initial fee of £47.5m, with the Spain international set to sign a six-year deal at the Bernabeu.
“Real Madrid C. F. and Chelsea FC have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Marc Cucurella, who will be linked to our club for the next six seasons, until June 30, 2032,” a club statement said on Monday.
Real Madrid also retain interest in signing Fernandez, who is open to the transfer. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, the Argentina midfielder has made ‘no secret’ of his desire to leave Chelsea, following the club’s failure to secure European football.
Fernandez was suspended for two games by the club last season, after comments in which he expressed a desire to live in Spain, amid reported transfer interest from La Liga.
Chelsea want £120m as Enzo Fernandez pushes for exit
Chelsea have placed a £120m price tag on the 25-year-old, and remain relaxed over the situation. However, the Blues are willing to sell at the right price if a big offer arrives from the Bernabeu.
Fernandez is one of several midfield options that Real Madrid are considering. Alongside an agreement to sign Bernardo Silva as a free agent, the Spaniards are also weighing up approaches for West Ham youngster Mateus Fernandes and Manchester City midfielder Rodri.
