Jeremy Fears Jr. is listed as the favorite to win the top college basketball individual award for next season
A Michigan State Spartan is the betting favorite to be the top player in all of college basketball next season.
As we currently sit, Michigan State star point guard Jeremy Fears Jr. is the betting favorite to win the Wooden Award next season for top college basketball player in the country. Fears is right ahead of Florida's Thomas Haugh, Duke's John Blackwell (who transferred from Wisconsin) and Illinois' David Mirkovic.
Fears considered jumping to the NBA after an All-American season this past year, but elected to come back for another year with the Spartans. That move by him has made Michigan State a preseason National Championship contender.
Fears is coming off an All-American season where he averaged 15.2 points and 9.4 assists per game. If he can improve upon those numbers even further, then it'll be hard to see anyone else beat him out for the Wooden Award next season.
Early Favorites to Win the Wooden Award per Vegas:
1. Jeremy Fears (Michigan State) 2. Thomas Haugh (Florida) 3. John Blackwell (Duke) 4. David Mirkovic (Illinois) 5. Tounde Yessofou (St. John's) 6. Tyran Stokes (Kansas) 7A. Tyler Tanner (Vanderbilt) 7B. Jordan Smith Jr.… pic.twitter.com/2UVzjOSHHZ
