As the Knicks rallied to a historical win against the Spurs in the NBA finals earlier this week, New Yorkers were too glued to their screens to take a bathroom break.

The official New York City Water account on X revealed on Thursday, June 11, that the team’s victory prompted a massive surge in water usage.

“As the #Knicks rallied with a game-winning 2-pointer, NYers held their number 1! At the final whistle & for the next 7 mins, NYC saw a water‑use spike equal to 368,697 flushes,” the message read. “As the Knicks surged, we fought the urge… because we knew the team was on the verge… OF HISTORY!”

The tongue-in-cheek message quickly drew attention online, with many Knicks fans celebrating both the win and the city’s commitment to putting their needs on hold until the very end.

“I think that’s beautiful,” one X user wrote.

Another added, “This is an insane finals stat.”

The victory gave New York a 3-1 series lead over San Antonio and put the franchise on the brink of its first NBA title in more than five decades.

Former University of Kentucky star and current Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns gave credit to the fans shortly after the win.

“Shout out to our fans, man. They stuck with us,” he told reporters. “It was an ugly, ugly game. We didn’t bring it in the first half, but they stuck with us.”

The two teams will face off once again in game 5 on Saturday, June 13, at 8:30 p.m. EST.
