CBS is finally launching a New York-centered NCIS series, NCIS: New York, in 2026, filling a void in its Navy procedural programming after 23 years. The flagship NCIS series launched in 2003 after Mark Harmon’s Leroy Jethro Gibbs and his team were introduced in a backdoor pilot on CBS’s legal procedural JAG, created by NCIS creator Donald P. Bellisario.
