Oxford United's new head coach Aaron Ramsey has added Chris Gunter and Tom Hutton to his coaching staff.

Ramsey's former Wales team-mate Gunter, 36, joins the club as assistant head coach, while Hutton arrives as a first-team coach.

Gunter retired from playing in 2023 and this summer led Wales' Under-19 side at the European Championships, having previously been part of the senior team's coaching set-up for Euro 2024 qualifying.

As a player he made more than 300 appearances for Reading and earned more than 100 caps for Wales, featuring alongside Ramsey as part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Hutton, 38, was involved as a coach with Cardiff's under-18s team and has previously coached in the Wales Under-19 set-up.

Both Gunter and Hutton were part of Ramsey's coaching team during his spell as interim head coach at Cardiff in 2025.

"I'm delighted to bring Chris and Tom to the club to add to the already strong coaching staff we have in the building," Ramsey told Oxford's official website.

"Having worked closely with both, particularly Chris, I know the qualities they will bring. They'll add fresh ideas, a huge amount of energy and an incredible attention to detail that will help drive us forward.

"I'm extremely pleased with the coaching team we've assembled. We have a really strong blend of people with experience at the club alongside exciting new voices, and together our responsibility is to create an environment where players can improve every single day."

The appointments come a day after Oxford announced they had been placed under a transfer embargo by the English Football League.
