Walsh University's Tim Mead elected to baseball coaches hall of fame

A longtime Canton-area college coach will be inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame
NORTH CANTON, Walsh University'sTim Mead is heading to the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Mead is one of seven coaches who will be inducted into the ABCA's hall of fame on Jan. 8 in Chicago. They will be honored during the association's annual convention.
A Walsh alum, Mead is the Cavaliers' all-time winningest coach with 983 victories over 44 seasons. He led Walsh to the NAIA World Series in 2007 and the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in 2022.
"I am greatly honored and humbled to join such an elite group of coaches in the ABCA Hall of Fame," Mead said in a release issued by the university. "I have been extremely blessed to be able to coach for 44-plus years at my alma mater with absolutely outstanding coaches and players. I am grateful to my family, the Brothers of Christian instruction and all the past and current administration that have allowed me to serve our student-athletes at Walsh University."
Mead currently serves as on the ABCA board of directors and as chair of the ABCA Hall of Fame committee. His past leadership roles include president of the ABCA and president of the NAIA Coaches Association. He received the Robert E, Smith Achievement Award in 2017.
Mead will be one of over 350 individuals in the ABCA Hall of Fame. The inaugural class was inducted in 1966.
