The MCU's Upcoming Nova Movie Is Guardians of the Galaxy Meets Superman

In the wake of Marvel Studios' reveals from San Diego Comic-Con 2026, most discussions about the Marvel Cinematic Universe have focused on Avengers: Doomsday , Ghost Rider , and Black Panther III . However, those are not the only upcoming MCU projects. In a post-panel interview with The Brandon Davis Show, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed the existence of a Nova film.
Earlier in July, Deadline reported that Nova was in the works, developed by Loki and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness screenwriter Michael Waldron. Though Feige shared no details about Nova , there is reason to believe that it will bear similarities to two other notable superhero films: 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy and 2025's Superman .
Guardians of the Galaxy introduced the MCU's version of the Nova Corps, an intergalactic peacekeeping organization headquartered on the planet Xandar. They did not possess superpowers, instead relying on technology like laser guns. In the comics, however, members of the Nova Corps wear special Nova Helmets that allow them to tap into a cosmic energy source known as the Nova Force.
As a result, these Novas possess superhuman strength, speed, and durability, as well as the abilities to fly and project energy blasts. Much like DC Comics' Green Lantern Corps, the Nova Corps recruits members from all over the universe, including Earth. The two most prominent human Novas from the comics are Richard Rider and Sam Alexander.
