There was once a time when practically every kids' film, especially under Disney's banner, was rated G. PG was reserved for something skewing towards slightly older audiences, containing material that might not be completely appropriate for the youngest eyes. In recent years, however, the MPA has given nearly every family-oriented film a blanket PG rating, whether necessary or not. As a result, the G rating is becoming extinct.
